Objectives and Assesment Criteria:

After attending this course the student can:

describe the various systems, techniques, tools and approaches associated with quality management.

explain the background and purpose for quality management systems, quality policy and quality objectives and management tools in general. Put them into perspectives in different contexts

explain the following 6 basic quality concepts:

  • Leadership and management commitment
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Employee involvement
  • Continuous process improvement
  • Supplier partnerships
  • Performance measures
  • describe the utilization of the following quality tools and techniques:

  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (Cp and CpK values)
  • benchmarking
  • 8D Problem Solving tool
  • identify and describe some of the general quality tools used during product development or during changes to existing products or processes. For example:

  • Quality Function Deployment (QFD)
  • Quality by design
  • Design reviews
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

    Oral exam with an internal 2nd examiner. Marks according to the Danish 7-point scale.
