Nu er problemet med vulkaner, at du normalt ikke finder flydende lava i krateret, med mindre vulkanen er i udbrud. Og i såfald kommer materialet op, ikke ned.
Hvis affaldet skal sendes dybt ned i jorden, så vil deponering i en subduktionszone være langt mere relevant.
I øvrigt: Der er slet ingen grund til at gemme det så langt væk, uran, plutonium og mindre actanider kan forbrændes i fjerde generationsreaktorer. De er her ikke endnu, men vil se indfasning efter år 2030. Restproduktet, fissile produkter, er kun farligt i max 600 år.
Husk at fjerde generationsreaktorer også genererer radioaktivt affald! På et eller andet tidspunkt står du tilbage med (også langlivede) radioaktive stoffer, som det ikke kan betale sig at fissionere/vanskeligt at transformere til stabile ugiftige stoffer.
Så jeg tror ikke det holder med de kun max. 600 år.
